Worry No More

While most major translations of the Bible don’t specifically use the word “stress,” Scripture does speak to things such as anxiety, worry and trouble and gives us clear answers on how we should deal with them. The dictionary defines stress as physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension. Everyone suffers from stress at one time or another. In fact, research indicates that children who live in a stressful home environment are at greater risk to become highly stressed by life’s challenges. Stress can cause us to do things we would not normally do or cause us to shut down completely. Anything that causes stress is called a “stressor.”

Stress can be caused by either processive stressors or systemic stressors. Processive stressors are those that elicit what is called the “fight or flight” reaction. Systemic stressors are our bodies’ automatic physiological responses to stress. Stress takes its toll on all of us to varying degrees, and how we deal with it depends in large part on who we are. It is no wonder that many days we struggle trying to cope with the distresses that come from our jobs, our health or family issues. God has created us and knows that, because of our fallen natures, we can sometimes allow stress to rule our lives.

Many people become stressed because they don’t trust God to provide the basic necessities of life. Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” (Matthew 6:25, 27). This passage is a classic example of why we get stressed in the first place—we worry about providing for ourselves and our loved ones. We stress over money because we never seem to feel that we have enough. We worry about making ends meet, often living paycheck to paycheck. Or we become consumed by materialism and in turn, stressed out about maintaining our lifestyle.Materialism inevitably leads to stress because when we seek the world’s goods, we have fallen for the “deceitfulness of wealth” (Mark 4:19), the lie that such things relieve stress and lead to happiness, contentment and joy. They do not.

The starting point for dealing with stress is Jesus Christ. Jesus offers us great encouragement in John 14:1: “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” We desperately need Him in our lives. We need Him because He is the only one who can give us the strength to cope with the troubles in our lives. Believing in Him does not mean that we will have a trouble-free life or that we will not succumb to stress in our lives. It simply means that a life without Jesus Christ makes coping with stress an impossible and often debilitating task.

Believing leads to trusting. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Leaning on “our own understanding” often means adopting the world’s ways of relieving stress—things like alcohol or drugs or mindless entertainment. Instead, we are to trust His Word as our ultimate guide to a stress-reduced life. David says, “I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4). David knew that by seeking the Lord and sharing his troubles with Him that perhaps he would find favor with Him. The Lord in turn answered him and calmed him down.

Perhaps no passage in Scripture better captures how to handle stress than Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” The Lord tells us not to be anxious about anything, but rather to turn everything over to Him in prayer. Lifting our burdens and concerns to a holy and righteous God daily will mitigate or eliminate the stress in our lives. Psalm 55:22 tells us to cast all our cares on Him because He will sustain us and never fail us. Jesus Christ offers peace if we come to Him with our worries and concerns. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27).

Stress of all kinds is a natural part of life (Job 5:7, 14:1; 1 Peter 4:12; 1 Corinthians 10:13). But how we deal with it is up to us. If we choose to try to do it on our own we face a long, uphill battle that will not end well. The only way we can deal with stress is with Jesus Christ, first by believing in Him. Without believing in Him we are our on our own, and success in coping with stress is almost impossible. Second, we need to trust Him and obey Him. We should trust Him to do what is right because His ways are always best for us. Disobedience and sin can produce stress and cut us off from the only means of peace and joy. By obeying His commandments we reap the blessings of true contentment from a loving God. Finally, we need to seek His peace daily by filling our minds with His Word, lifting all things to Him in prayer, and sitting at His feet in awe and reverence. It is only by His grace, mercy and love that the stress in our lives can be managed.

Hating yourself is a sin

The great thing is He loves us still very very much! He made you in His image and the Bible says: 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. Ps.139:13-16 The Lord knew you and loved you before you were even born. A person may come to hate himself for being old or physically unattractive.
Some may arrive at self-hatred because they consider themselves losers who lack certain talents or resources (intelligence, personal connections, money, and influence). Anyone who accepts the idealized standards of beauty, success, and power as portrayed in the mass media—and fails to live up to those standards—may arrive at the unreasonable conclusion that he or she is not worthy of love and begin to sink into self-hatred. God warns us not to hate our neighbors, and we must not make unreasonable demands upon ourselves and end up sinning against God by hating ourselves (Leviticus 19:17). If you hate yourself because you do not “measure up” according to worldly standards, realize that in doing so you are showing hatred or anger toward God who made you as you are and placed you in your current circumstances. If you hurt yourself in an act of self-hatred, is this not truly an act of vengeance against God? Just as we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, we are to love ourselves and so show thanks and honor to the sovereign God who made us and placed us in our circumstances, no matter what these might be. We cannot trust our feelings in matters of love and hate, for our sentiments in these things are unreliable.
Sorrow that leads to repentance is a good thing, but self-hatred is counter-productive. Just as an athlete must exercise self-control in all things, the saint must not let fleshly self-hatred or its opposite (pride) control him (1 Corinthians 9:24-25). Fleshly self-hatred is worldly, leading to death; but godly sorrow leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10). Repentance occurs when we turn away from our sin and toward God (Isaiah 55:6). As unworthy as we are of God’s grace toward us, we must believe Him when He tells us that He forgives our confessed and forsaken sins; indeed, He utterly forgets them (Psalm 103:9 and Isaiah 43:25)! We must not allow ourselves or our fellows in Christ to be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow (2 Corinthians 2:7). We must quickly forgive ourselves and restore other repentant sinners.
Having repented, we must trust God, who is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We must hate sin, but not hate ourselves, for we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. To continue in a state of self-hatred after we have received the grace God offers us does not honor God and demonstrates a failure to understand the nature and value of the salvation Jesus purchased for us with His blood (1 Peter 1:18-19)

Choose God

When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, not only is your eternity secure, but you become a child of the Most High God. You instantly have an Everlasting Father! Think about that word everlasting. It means that before the beginning of time, the Father was there. He was waiting for you to accept Him and become a child of His.

I can only imagine that He was excited and anticipating that day just like a father would anticipate the birth of his child in the natural. I can imagine that each day God would think, “Is it today?” I don’t know what your experience has been with your earthly father, but God is a good and perfect Father. He loves you with an everlasting love. He loves everything about you so much that He notices when a single hair falls from your head. He accepts you just the way you are, and He loves you enough to guide you and work His character in you. And, He will be your Father from now until eternity! He will never leave you nor forsake you! Thank Him today for being your Everlasting Father!

Akala nila pinanganak silang prinsipe at prinsesa.

Fire and Glory Conference Davao (PART 1)

October 13, 2011(First day)

Transitions
 Pastor Paul Yadao
Senior Pastor of Destiny Ministries International, Laguna

Note: I tried to take down notes to share to everyone who was not able to attend the conference.

Biblical Reading: Isaiah 9:7, Acts 15, 1 Samuel 13, Psalms 18:1,  1 Samuel 16,  1 Corinthians 2:1
“Everything in the Kingdom of God is to be received not to be achieved”, opening words of Pastor Paul Yadao as he welcomed everybody to the Fire and Glory Conference.

Transitions.
1.       The way we handle transitions determines if we upgrade  our life or turn to our old mold.
2.       The way we handle transitions determines if we are moving forward to our destiny God has set for us  or just stay where we are.

3.       We thought our transition is a water to quench our thirst but actually a fire to burn us. Transition is not only in ourselves but to government/leadership, churches, etc.
4.       “I know that so don’t teach me”, it’s a dangerous thing. Remind yourself to be humble. We thought we know everything but when we come to a paradigm, He will shift our way of thinking. Transitions teach us to become humble. If transitions is unbearable two things must not be forgotten: “WHO GOD IS AND WHO YOU ARE IN HIM”.

Transition in generation.
1.       Inside of us is a major world changer
2.       What you honor will be entrusted  with you.
3.       You thought you aren’t ready for things, but now God makes you eady.
4.       You cannot stop the transition of this generation from nothingness to a Godliness, you just have to be prepared for it.

Anointing and Intimacy
1.       Anointing and intimacy with the Lord are what we need
2.       Anointing and intimacy come together
3.        Many have anointing but don’t have intimacy (this is ineffective)
4.       Authority is connected to intimacy.
5.       Many declare in themselves that they do what they hear and do what they see, but actually they do without hear and do without  see.

Transformation
1.       Transformed people will transform people.
2.       Don’t look back, do not go back, MOVE!
3.       When facing giants, you’re in a promised land.
4.       Offense comes to everyone, but blessed are those who are not affected.

You did not choose me, but I chose you (John 15:16)

This is the love of our God. That He chose us, sinful human beings. Us, the ones who tend to look at ourselves and this world for salvation when all we find is empty promises and pathways leading to dead ends. The ones who fail time and time again at recognizing the Cross, the symbol of a second chance given. God chose us. He looks past our sins and blots out our transgressions. Why? Because His grace is bigger than our sins. Because He loves us far too much to let petty sin get in the way of having a relationship with Him. Sometimes, life isn’t hard because of what we’re going through. It’s the way we’re going through it. We can’t do this on our own. So why not let the only one who can do it with us. His love is something no one will ever be able to fully comprehend because His love isn’t something you can fit into a box of understanding. Can you just think of this for a second? God created us last. Why? Because He wanted the sky and the earth and the ocean, all the beauty that rests in nature, to be there when we arrived. He wanted us to have the best of the best. He chose us. And when sin corrupted our perfect intended nature, He sent His only Son to die for our lives.

I wish the world knew of this love. I wish those of you who are lost and reading this knew of the love of God. It’s something powerful, something words couldn’t possibly be able to explain. It’s an experience with a response. God chose us. The ones who mess up every single day and yet, He still can’t help but love us unconditionally, infinitely, entirely. How in the world can that be possible? Well, with God, nothing is impossible.

The next time you feel ashamed or unworthy of His grace, remember, He chose you.

God is with you

The goodness of the Lord is everywhere; we just have to welcome His mighty and powerful presence. Many of us fail to recognize the Holy Spirit He has given us causing us to still depend on your way of thinking. God is not like that and He doesn’t like that way of thought. That is not even the way of accepting wisdom. It is not the manner of having an idea that God wants us to have. He wants us to be the agents of change. We can not do that unless we let His mighty power rule over our thoughts and actions. We can hardly grasp His presence unless we continue on doing sins.

What to do to be able to have God in our thought and action? Just welcome Him to come in to your heart. Allow him to use you for the expansion of His Kingdom here on earth. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior. You are called to do greater things so stop holding on to something less.
